Stupid Clash Poster Won’t Stop my Nerdrection

This plain, boring, zero-inspiration, third-grade Photoshop poster for the “Clash of the Titans” remake isn’t going to stop me from geeking out and circling March 26, 2010 on my calendar. No sir! In fact, I’m actually wondering if the remake can even come close to trumping the two hours of awesome that is the 1981 version. That movie satisfied all my third-grade appetites – nudity, crazy creatures, hairless dudes in skirts fighting with swords, winged horseys and enough herky jerky stop-motion animation to make me scratch my head 28 years later and wonder how in the name of Ray Harryhausen did I ever think those effects were cutting edge? So yeah, the stupid poster is above and the booty kickin’ trailer for “Clash of the Titans” circa 1981 is below.

Ahh! i couldnt agree more, i think i was in my late 20′s hunting this and Krull down on dvd at Media Play cause im a giant gay nerd..not that theres anything wrong with that.

If it werent for Ray Harryhausen and his amazing skills kids across the world would have been subject to Jim Hensen hand puppets and dudes dressed up in furry costumes for our fantasy fix.

Speaking of Jim Hensen, i wonder if they will ever do a Dark Crystal remake, that movie freaked me out.

..I hope they dont screw this movie up, it would be a travesty.

  2. Dan says:

Danny- missed this item. The Jim Henson Company is working on a Dark Crystal SEQUEL (The Power of the Dark Crystal). I was in contact with them about a year and a half ago– preproduction is well under way (and moving quickly into production)– it’s just rewrites and partnerships that made it slow going. I believe it’s due for a 2011 release.

  3. Danny says:

    Oh nice!

Will it be CG or puppets?

  4. Andy says:

I got to be honest with you guys…I hate the “Dark Crystal.” I really do.

Movie Review: The Last Airbender (F)

By ANDY MORGAN There are very few movies I completely and utterly abhor. Generally, I can usually find something positive or likeable in a film, even if said cinema is receiving disgust and scorn en masse from most fall-in-line movie critics. I relish the truth that I don’t always see eye-to-eye with most critics and [...]

Movie Review: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (B)

By ANDY MORGAN Making fun of Twilight fans and bemoaning Stephanie Meyer’s novels and the subsequent movies is almost as easy as drumming up sarcastic jabs about Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton or Miley Cyrus. There’s no effort required. It’s easy. And it’s also out of control. It’s almost as popular to dump on the vampire-werewolf [...]

Movie Review: The Last Airbender (C-)

By DAN VINTON If there’s one thing The Last Airbender does well, it proves any mystique surrounding M. Night Shaymalan is gone. With this coffin-bound nail, all residual goodwill The Sixth Sense director retained from followup successes like Unbreakable, Signs and even the creepy but fatally flawed The Village has been throttled by his is [...]
