Bella’s blood is especially tasty to Edward. As far as her side, I think Ann Rice put it well: “I felt that it reflected the deep desire of young women to have the mystery and protection and wisdom of older men. I think many girls mature much earlier than boys, and they are frustrated when they approach young boys for love or protection. Hence the fantasy of a wise and protective vampire coming into the life of a young girl who, of course, appreciates him in a special way.”

2 and 1/2 of pain. Some scenes were good but so much dialogue and poor acting. That Jacob guy “muscle boy” was terrible as an actor. May I have a refund?

Yeah, I’d have to agree with Dan on this. Jacob’s infatuation for Bella seems more realistic, especially carried across and “developed” over two films now. The Edward/Bella romance just seems bewildering to me. Again, I haven’t read the books and never will, so my only course of judgment are the movies, and as far as I can tell, like Dan, they haven’t convinced me the Edward/Bella connection has any substance or believability.

Hey Kathy- thanks for reading and the feedback. I’d have to disagree with you on the inability to pack a believable romance into two hours. Two hours is PLENTY of time- especially with a story as thin as New Moon (Love Actually– as an example– does a fine job with at least six different stories in as much time).

And you’re right- everyone can relate to the feelings of first love, but the films haven’t convinced me and grimacing and saying “I’m in love” come off to me as shallow shortcuts. I believed Jacob’s “puppy love”– I still can’t believe the Edward/Bella connection of gloom.

You have the benefit of having read the books and can fill in the blanks, but as I mentioned in the review “…a film should work on its own merits, not on the ethereal pages and internal monologues its audience may or may not be aware of.”

I got my tickets for the midnight movie tonight last night and let me just tell you, THIS WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE FIRST MOVIE. Um hello how hot was Jacob in this one, I swear I will be a team Jacob girl for life. The movie met all my expectations, check out some great pics I found that I wanted to share, soooo hot/great/amazing!!

Well there are plenty of fans that read the books and understand exactly the romance between Edward and Bella. I loved the books and I loved the movies Twilight and New Moon. Lets face it, how much story line from a book can you pack into a 2 1/2 hour movie? The point is everyone can relate to the feelings of first love and the confusion that goes along with it and you get that from both the books and the movies.

I think her gift of being unable to smile makes her special.

In the movie at least, her “specialness” is that vampires can’t read her mind. I thought that was just teenage chicks in general, but apparently I was wrong.

There wasn’t much in the book either about the whole romance thing, other than he was ridiculously good looking and very chivalrous. Bella, I never got what made her special. Maybe letting her mom live it up and feeding her dad?

I just wanted to slap both of them the majority of the time. I skipped pages instead.
