Trailer Tuesday: Youth in Revolt Redband Trailer

December 8, 2009 Trailer Tuesday 2 Comments

I like Michael Cera and thought he was fantastic in Superbad and Juno, but he’s starting to wear thin with the same-old song and dance in Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Year One and even the hybrid-documentary, Paper Heart. That’s not an all-out, in-your-face criticism because life as a comedic actor is tough. It’s hard to branch out and keep the fans and critics happy, just ask Jim Carrey and Will Ferrel.

I’m hoping Youth in Revolt – due in theaters on January 8, 2010 – will be something fresh from Cera, but from the looks of the chuckle-filled redband trailer below, it’s hard to tell. Does Cera donning the hat of the filthy and aggressive alter ego translate into more of the same, or does it mean we get to see a different side from him?

Either way, the scene in the tent about the placement of the pinky earned my desire to see this. What about you?

Poor Cera is the same guy in all of his films. The only thing he’s done of merit in his career so far is “Superbad”, imo. But judging from the trailer, this looks decent.

Movie Review: The Other Guys (A-)

From Old School to Elf to Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and even Land of the Lost (I think I might be one of a handful who actually enjoyed this movie), Will Ferrell has proven to be one of the funniest actors of the last decade. Mark Walhberg is in the same boat [...]

Movie Review: The Last Airbender (F)

By ANDY MORGAN There are very few movies I completely and utterly abhor. Generally, I can usually find something positive or likeable in a film, even if said cinema is receiving disgust and scorn en masse from most fall-in-line movie critics. I relish the truth that I don’t always see eye-to-eye with most critics and [...]

Movie Review: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (B)

By ANDY MORGAN Making fun of Twilight fans and bemoaning Stephanie Meyer’s novels and the subsequent movies is almost as easy as drumming up sarcastic jabs about Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton or Miley Cyrus. There’s no effort required. It’s easy. And it’s also out of control. It’s almost as popular to dump on the vampire-werewolf [...]
