You Ever Seen a Grown Man Naked? RIP Peter Graves.

March 15, 2010 News 2 Comments

I usually don’t throw up RIP posts for actors and actresses who have died, but I have to make an exception for Peter Graves, the star of television’s Mission: Impossible and possibly one of the greatest and most recognizable voices of all-time. Mr. Graves died yesterday afternoon at his home from natural causes (sounds like he had a heart attack). He was 83 years old.

Of course, I remember Peter Graves from his role in 1980’s Airplane!, where he played Captain Clarence Oveur, famous for his hilarious string of cockpit questions to young Joey, such as, “Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?” or “You ever seen a grown man naked?” Graves initially turned down the role of Oveur, saying “I read it and thought, ‘Gee, this is dangerous.’ It was in terrible taste.” Thankfully for us he didn’t. Airplane! is one of my favorite comedies of all-time.

Below is a clip of some of Graves’ best Airplane! moments.

Movie Review: The Last Airbender (F)

By ANDY MORGAN There are very few movies I completely and utterly abhor. Generally, I can usually find something positive or likeable in a film, even if said cinema is receiving disgust and scorn en masse from most fall-in-line movie critics. I relish the truth that I don’t always see eye-to-eye with most critics and [...]

Movie Review: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (B)

By ANDY MORGAN Making fun of Twilight fans and bemoaning Stephanie Meyer’s novels and the subsequent movies is almost as easy as drumming up sarcastic jabs about Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton or Miley Cyrus. There’s no effort required. It’s easy. And it’s also out of control. It’s almost as popular to dump on the vampire-werewolf [...]
