Halo Movie “Happening” and I Don’t Give a Rat’s Ass

April 8, 2010 Commentary, News 1 Comment

“We’re going to make a movie when the time is right.”

Oh, boy, how many times have we heard this line in regards to the oft-anticipated, never-gonna-materialize Halo movie? So many times that I don’t believe anything that comes out of Frank O’ Connor’s mouth about a supposed movie, and frankly, at this point, I don’t give a rat’s ass. I’ve moved on. Halo can suck it. Instead, I’m pining for other video game movies.

Like what you ask?

I’ll tell you: Bioshock.

Oh, wait, Bioshock is technically in pre-production, but now is officially in development hell because director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) is off to London and Madrid to film another movie, a thriller called Intruders (starring Clive Owen).

Well, at least I can hold out hope for Gears of War, right?

Wrong. Looks like director Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) is moving on to different priorities, specifically an apocalyptic thriller entitled Nocturne, and according to MTV, Gears story and budget have been cut. No reasoning is given, but I’m going to wager in the fickle world of film the Gears, Bioshock and Halo windows have been missed and soon will be shut. Your fanboy heart might shake its fist at that notion, but sadly I’m right.

Movie Review: The Other Guys (A-)

From Old School to Elf to Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and even Land of the Lost (I think I might be one of a handful who actually enjoyed this movie), Will Ferrell has proven to be one of the funniest actors of the last decade. Mark Walhberg is in the same boat [...]

Movie Review: The Last Airbender (F)

By ANDY MORGAN There are very few movies I completely and utterly abhor. Generally, I can usually find something positive or likeable in a film, even if said cinema is receiving disgust and scorn en masse from most fall-in-line movie critics. I relish the truth that I don’t always see eye-to-eye with most critics and [...]

Movie Review: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (B)

By ANDY MORGAN Making fun of Twilight fans and bemoaning Stephanie Meyer’s novels and the subsequent movies is almost as easy as drumming up sarcastic jabs about Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton or Miley Cyrus. There’s no effort required. It’s easy. And it’s also out of control. It’s almost as popular to dump on the vampire-werewolf [...]
