If you missed the MTV Movie Awards this past Sunday you missed a kick-ass tribute to Sandra Bullock, more Twilight than anyone should ever have to endure, Lindsay Lohan shaking in her seat from a lack of alcohol and enough f-words to make you think Martin Scorsese was directing the awards telecast. But you also missed this nice clip teasing the November 19, 2010 release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One.

Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never Video Blows Goats

There is tons o’ hate on the web for Justin Bieber and his balls-have-yet-to-drop voice, perfectly coifed hair and Chiclet-sized white-as-hell teeth. Personally, I have no issues with Bieber. Like a thousand other teenage artists, I’m guessing he’s a flash-in-the-pan and will probably nose-dive with the weight of fame. Probably after he acquires herpes from some loose groupie, starts doing heroin and wakes up at 21 looking like Josh Brolin. But that’s not the point. The point is Bieber’s new tune, “Never Say Never,” from the The Karate Kid soundtrack, premiered on MTV.com today. I didn’t mind the song until Jaden Smith, son-of-Will, hopped in and rapped about Kobe Bryant swishing shots in the 4^th quarter and being raised by the “power of Will.” Sorry Bieber fans, but that was a giant pothole in the song and I just couldn’t get back into the tune.

Earlier in the week we had Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) dissing Justin Bieber’s noisy chip eating in a 2010 MTV Movie Awards promo, and today we have Tom Cruise revisiting his Tropic Thunder character, Lex Grossman, and giving Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga) the third-degree over his scruffy appearance. If this is a prelude to the kind of spoofs we’ll see during the actual June 6 awards telecast, I might be changing my tune and not just watch for my Katy Perry fix.

The Hurt Locker Meets Justin Beiber

Thanks to an incessant parade of celebrity shilling, meaningless awardery and bottom-barrel joke muckraking, I’ve made it a point to miss the MTV movie awards over the last few years.

And while the award show made by the Hollywood Marketers Alliance is still a big shill, this clip kind of tilted me the other way, thanks mostly to the awesomeness of The Hurt Locker, the subtle self-effacing of Jeremy Renner and the smooth charm of Aziz Ansari.

Then again, there’s always the You Tube highlights.

A-Teeeeeeeeeeaaaaaam! I may have some 80′s nostalgia tied to this one, but A-Team is one of the few summer movies I’m looking forward to. Refreshing, none-too-serious and over the top fun is always welcome– even if the green screen effects are a little… obvious.

Predator & Dune Re-Dubs are Pure Gold

Once again I have to thank AATM reader, Danny, for bringing this Predator re-dubbing to my attention. I laughed my ass off through both this and the embedded Dune re-dub. Something about high-pitched, squeaky voices and talk of poop and balls makes me giggle. It also reminds me of the sheer pleasure that is Kung Pow: Enter the Fist.

A bit of trivia, the guys behind these re-dubs are from Sequential Pictures, the makers of this hilarious Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith spoof trailer, A Lost Hope.

Predators Sneak Peak = Cinematic Viagra

Oh man oh man oh man. How cool is this sneak peak clip from the upcoming summer release, Predators, directed by Nimród Antal (Vacancy, Armored) and produced by Robert Rodriguez (Shorts)? Ooooh, let me answer – pretty friggin’ cool. Opening on July 9, I just can’t imagine any way this movie won’t be pure awesome, and based off what I see of Adrian Brody (The Brothers Bloom), I think my assertion his casting was a great choice is more than evident.

Predators also stars Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3), Alice Braga (Blindness), Laurence Fishburne (Armored) and Danny Trejo (Grindhouse). If you feel a slight rise in your shorts when you hear Arnold say “get to the chopppah!” in Predator, than chances are you won’t need your daily dose of ExtenZe this evening. Enjoy!

Legion Clip Contains Gun, Mace and Wing Violence

The upcoming angels and automatic weapon orgy Legion looks like an attempt at coronation as this decade’s Underworld– a geeky/goofy genre premise that takes itself deadly serious and while a little flat and overly straight-faced, has the sweet potential for guilty pleasure. Legion arrives January 22, which means all kinds of clips are coming available.

Clips like this one, where Paul Bettany’s Michael goes angel-a-angel with a wing-swinging Gabriel. Like I said, goofy… but kinda cool. Geek out or roll your eyes below.

Kick-Ass Clip Brings Heartwarming Joy

Coming off the annual AICN BNAT (Butt-Numb-A-Thon) film-fest this last week, Kick-Ass has officially received the geek cred seal of approval. Admittedly, that’s not too hard, but face it. The Kick-Ass trailer is pretty fantastic and this new clip as debuted on UGO warmed my heart and brought a smile to my face. There’s nothing like the special relationship between Daddy and daughter.

And a crazy Nicholas Cage and a 12-year-old-assassin in training.

Up Ties Some Loose Ends

Up is one of the year’s best. The movie runs the smorgasbord of emotions and themes– and while I’ve heard that criticized as a soft attempt to break through the live-action Best Picture barrier while pacifying the masses with fun (IE- a movie that’s not too thought-provoking), I say stop being so cynical. Not everything has to be an exercise in existential misery wallowing.

In the mean time, Pixar’s released an animated short from the world of Up. The short chronicles George and A.J., the two orderlies sent to grab Carl Fredrickson for a trip to Shady Oaks retirement home before he gives them the raspberry and floats away. The short is animated in Pixar’s go-to 2D– a blocky, 60′s-esque illustration style, but still retains the fun and heart embodied in the feature film.
