New WONDER WOMAN Trailer Equals Hope for the DC Cinematic Universe

WONDER WOMAN, the next movie (June 2017) in the DC Comics cinematic universe, has a new trailer out today, and even though studios still refuse to plop Chris Pine’s eyebrows in the “starring” credits, I will admit wholeheartedly that I dug this trailer loads more than the San Diego Comic-Con teaser back in late July.

I’m not 100 percent sure why I like this new trailer better than its predecessor, especially since there’s not that much new footage, but more glimpses into the story and less of the Eddie Van Halen-meets-jungle-drums music is probably a good start. WONDER WOMAN just feels fresh and unforced thus far. Of course, I had Viagra moments with the trailers from MAN OF STEEL, BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE and SUICIDE SQUAD, so doing cartwheels over Diana Prince deflecting bullets with her badass jewelry doesn’t necessarily mean this Patty Jenkins (MONSTER) summer blockbuster will actually bust blocks at the box office.

Either way, I have a tiny crush on Gal Gadot (KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES) and, believe it or not, I’m one of the critics who didn’t hate the three aforementioned forays into Metropolis and Gotham. Here’s to hoping WONDER WOMAN is a hit for DC and here’s to hoping Marvel wakes up and sees potential for BLACK WIDOW to hit the big screen. In a day and age where we have to constantly hear/read about orange-skinned loudmouths bragging about sexually assaulting women, it sure would be nice to remind the ladies they are the strongest and best of us.
