Now THIS is Podracing! Lucas’ Red Tails Trailer Hits the Web!

I’m struggling to describe how I’m feeling about Red Tails, the long-awaited, oft-mentioned, Tuskegee Airmen action film directed by George Lucas Anthony Hemingway. Part of me, the portion who loves World War II movies steeped in history, drama and action, is excited for a film about these valiant airmen who, in my opinion, don’t get near enough recognition for the sacrifices they made for their country despite their country not embracing them or giving them the inalienable rights every human being deserves. It’s also hard to not see the cast – Terrance Howard (Iron Man), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Cuba Gooding Jr. (American Gangster) – and not feel somewhat confident, despite Gooding’s direct-to-DVD career as of late, that Red Tails will hopefully be more than special effects and explosions. Still, even with my hopes, it’s hard to ignore the facts: George Lucas is involved and this movie is coming out in January. I love Star Wars, but I promise you cannot show me a George Lucas directed movie deserving of high accolades. And to make matters worse, when Red Tails was in need of re-shoots, Lucas stepped behind the camera and the official story was Hemingway was busy working on HBO’s Treme. If that doesn’t pucker your bumhole regarding Red Tails, then I don’t know what else will.

Take a peek at the trailer for Red Tails below and give us your opinion. Is this something you’re looking forward to catching in January. Can you name a four star George Lucas film? There aren’t any, but you can try.
