Elisabeth Shue, who once had hugs and kisses with Ralph Macchio in “The Karate Kid,” is set to further the complete gimmickiness of 3D by starring in a re-do of “Piranha,” a campy, “Jaws” wannabe from way back in 1978. The original was directed by Joe Dante (“Gremlins”), this version, aptly and creatively titled “Piranha 3D” is helmed by Alexandre Aja, whose claim to fame is directing another old horror remake, 2006’s “The Hills Have Eyes.” “Piranha 3D” has a release date of 2010.
