Chloe Moretz as The Hunger Games’ Katniss is a Bad Idea

About the only thing similar actress Chloe Moretz and The Hunger Games’ fictional Katniss Everdeen have in common is both have kicked a lot of ass and both have seen a boatload of blood. I’m referring, tounge-in-cheek, to Moretz’s performances as Hit Girl in last April’s Kick-Ass, as well as her role as the blood-thirsty, yet tender-hearted, vampire in Let Me In, opening this Friday. Those are the only similarities and if the rumors of Moretz being considered for the

Let Me in Redband Trailer is Mucho Creepy

More often than not, movie trailers are hugely deceiving. That’s why I’m a little cautious about getting worked up over Let Me In, the Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) remake of the Swedish vampire flick, Let the Right One In. Reeves has said he’s been faithful to the novel and the film, hence many wonder why a remake is even necessary or warranted. I’m a Cloverfield fan, so I’m in the game more for Reeves – to see if he has talent

Trailer Tuesday: Let Me In

By ANDY MORGAN I finally saw Let the Right One In, the Swedish coming-of-age vampire tale, in March of 2009 after the thundering positive buzz had begun to fade, and maybe that’s why I didn’t fall in love with the movie as many before me had. There were elements of the movie I appreciated – the attention to small details, the icy, intense acting and the overall look and feel of the film, but in the final analysis there was

Trailer Tuesday: More Kick-Ass Goodness

I read a mixed review of Kick-Ass last month that had me doubting the sheer cinegasmic beauty of all – yes, all – the trailers I’ve seen for this flick, but I’m feeling better today because Rotten Tomatoes has Kick-Ass, due in theaters on April 16th, pegged at 100 percent on the Tomatometer. Sure, sure…I know what all the naysayers and Debbie Downers will say, “It’s only got 12 reviews so far, ANDY! Jackass!” Guess what? I don’t care. I’m

Kick-Ass Red Band Trailer is All Kinds of Bitchin’

Maybe I’m a filthy old man, but there’s something absolutely hilarious about a spunky 13 year-old girl (Chloe Moretz) spouting spicy dialogue that would make a sailor blush. The only problem is will the shock-value of Kick-Ass, coming to theaters on April 16, 2010, be the foundation for the film, or simply the cherry on top? My hope is the latter, especially considering what looks to be strong, quirky, memorable performances from Nicholas Cage and Mark Strong. If you haven’t

New Hit Girl Poster Makes Me Giddy for Kick-Ass

Next to Clash of the Titans, there is no movie in the next two months I am more excited to see than Kick-Ass. In fact, I’d say there’s nothing in 2010 that has me more giddy than Perseus and Hit Girl. I just can’t fathom how Kick-Ass won’t be anything but a stellar success both critically and monetarily. Matthew Vaughn, the movie’s director, is the man behind the slick (but somewhat over-glorified) Layer Cake, and the under-appreciated Stardust. Below is
