Trailer Tuesday: More Kick-Ass Goodness

I read a mixed review of Kick-Ass last month that had me doubting the sheer cinegasmic beauty of all – yes, all – the trailers I’ve seen for this flick, but I’m feeling better today because Rotten Tomatoes has Kick-Ass, due in theaters on April 16th, pegged at 100 percent on the Tomatometer. Sure, sure…I know what all the naysayers and Debbie Downers will say, “It’s only got 12 reviews so far, ANDY! Jackass!” Guess what? I don’t care. I’m

Trailer Tuesday: Defendor

So you know about this little movie called Kick-Ass: sewer-mouthed kids dressed in bright pajamas and capes who cheerily introduce bad guys to the pitfalls of additional holes in the head/the miracles of modern day prosthesis. If it can get past it’s first-blush head-trip of being insanely crude just for the sake of “we can”, Kick-Ass will be the latest entry in a deconstructive super-hero sub-genre that’s as interesting as it is fun. With Kick-Ass‘ April arrival sucking all of

Kick-Ass Red Band Trailer is All Kinds of Bitchin’

Maybe I’m a filthy old man, but there’s something absolutely hilarious about a spunky 13 year-old girl (Chloe Moretz) spouting spicy dialogue that would make a sailor blush. The only problem is will the shock-value of Kick-Ass, coming to theaters on April 16, 2010, be the foundation for the film, or simply the cherry on top? My hope is the latter, especially considering what looks to be strong, quirky, memorable performances from Nicholas Cage and Mark Strong. If you haven’t

New Hit Girl Poster Makes Me Giddy for Kick-Ass

Next to Clash of the Titans, there is no movie in the next two months I am more excited to see than Kick-Ass. In fact, I’d say there’s nothing in 2010 that has me more giddy than Perseus and Hit Girl. I just can’t fathom how Kick-Ass won’t be anything but a stellar success both critically and monetarily. Matthew Vaughn, the movie’s director, is the man behind the slick (but somewhat over-glorified) Layer Cake, and the under-appreciated Stardust. Below is

New Kick-Ass Trailer Spanks Bum

I so wanted to write “New Kick-Ass Trailer Kicks Ass,” but I swore a vow not to write vomit-inducing headlines on Fridays. But man oh man, I cannot wait for April. Seriously. How awesome does this movie look? What’s not to like about bloody violence, teenage shennanigans and little girls who swear like sailors? Wait, that sounds like any night on XBOX Live. At any rate, check out the first full-length trailer for Kick-Ass and, as always, give us your

Trailer Two-Fer Tuesday: Kick-Ass (Hit Girl)

At this point, Kick Ass is percolating in your conscious. You’ve seen the all ages trailer and Condor Man’s taxi cab facial. You’ve seen Nicholas Cage lovingly put a couple slugs into his little girl’s kevlar chest. And sure, while the little girl (AKA- Hit Girl) can take a .45  caliber punch, she can also deliver a few herself. Empire recently posted an exclusive red band Kick Ass Hit Girl trailer, one that Trailer Addict was kind enough to rip

Kick-Ass Clip Brings Heartwarming Joy

Coming off the annual AICN BNAT (Butt-Numb-A-Thon) film-fest this last week, Kick-Ass has officially received the geek cred seal of approval. Admittedly, that’s not too hard, but face it. The Kick-Ass trailer is pretty fantastic and this new clip as debuted on UGO warmed my heart and brought a smile to my face. There’s nothing like the special relationship between Daddy and daughter. And a crazy Nicholas Cage and a 12-year-old-assassin in training.

Kick-Ass Trailer, Well, Kicks Ass

Kick-Ass (yes, it’s an upcoming movie) is well known in the geek circuit and has been building collective buzz for the better part of a year. We laid out the history of the project right here, but if following links isn’t your thing, here’s the synopsis: [The success of] Wanted opened the door to the creative talents of comic writer Mark Millar (on whose comic Wanted was obviously based)… Mark Millar, who’d written some Superman treatments for DC, was also

Kick-Bum (aka Kick-Ass) Introduces You to Hit-Girl

About a year ago, Wanted exploded its way through skulls and into the collective hearts of American filmgoers. Based on a comic of the same name, the movie jettisoned the original conceit of a superhero slayer and replaced it with an assassins gone amok storyline. Exceeding expectations, Wanted‘s hyper stylization and flippant violence opened the tap to a shower of love from audiences. While this kid appreciated the creative conceits and imaginative action of Wanted, in the end the only
