When I saw the announcement for Snow White and The Huntsman and read that Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) were attached, I pushed it off as another attempt by a creatively bankrupt Hollywood to milk the teat of fresh faces and old stories yet again. My resistance to a live-action Snow White movie is probably Walt Disney’s fault. It’s hard to think of Snow White and not think of singing dwarfs, poison-apple-pawning grannies and the fair-skinned, cartoon princess we’ve grown to remember and love. A live-action version just felt, I don’t know, cheap and easy. Then I watched the trailer (see below) and now I’m repenting. Color me sold. This movie, coming to theaters June 1, 2012, looks packed with style, action, drama and, based on who is was cast as the seven dwarfs, enough humor and lightheartedness to not make the film too stoic and serious. I could be wrong, especially with the glassy-eyed Stewart as your badass femme fatale, but when I watch the trailer I get more of the Lord of the Rings vibe than I do any hokey Disney fairy tale. This is easily, now, one of my most-anticipated films of 2012. Snow White and The Huntsman stars Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Ray Winstone and Nick Frost, and hits theaters on June 1, 2012. Check out the trailer below and let me know your thoughts.

It’s been a year since we’ve had to commune, by choice or force, with Edward (Robert Pattinson), Bella (Kristen Stewart), Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and the whole Forks, Washington crew, including the pasty-skinned, pissy Volturi creepies from Italy, whom we’ve seen briefly in the last two films. But hold on tight, Twihards, because The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 hits theaters on November 18, 2011 and the first preview hit the web earlier in the week. You can watch it below, courtesy of Yahoo! movies and Andy at The Movies.com. I’d sure love to know what you think. As for me, I don’t have much to say. It looks like more of the same. I’m not familiar with the Breaking Dawn story, but I do know Summit Entertainment is splitting the tale in half and Breaking Dawn – Part 2 hits theaters in November of 2012. I also know that Edward and Bella get married, get freaky and spawn some kind of mutant child that Jacob imprints with his little brokenhearted werewolf paw. If there were any justice in the world, Stephanie Meyer’s tale of vampire/lycan love would get an R rating, and considering what I saw in this trailer, it might come close. I don’t know what kind of Herculean Kama Sutra ol’ Jacob can pull off in the sack, but if Edward Sparklechest is turning the honeymoon headboard into splinters, well, then it’s no wonder Bella picks the bloodsucker over the pound puppy. Check out the trailer below and let your opinion be known! Enjoy!

Entertainment Weekly has the latest compelling information about the upcoming release of the Nth edition of the Twilight series, Breaking Wind Dawn. In the expose, the actress of … one … facial expression laments the fact that Breaking Dawn had to maintain a PG-13 rating, and thus couldn’t get as graphic as the book with a highly anticipated wedding/birthing scene. “I would have loved to have been puking up blood,” Stewart told EW. If only she knew how pleasant puking up blood could be because it’s not like SHE has ever stuck a toothbrush down her throat to purge a meal…NO NO NO! The quote is ironic given most men will be puking up blood if the entirely overrated, over-hyped, overdone Twilight meme keeps going much longer. It does bring up an interesting question, though. This past month, we’ve seen an Oscar-winning picture edited and re-released to capitulate to the people who can’t stand to hear the eff word. If we’re going to bastardize a piece of award-winning art for a money grab, why not make it standard and have a PG-13 and an R version of movies like Twilight? I mean, Hollywood is all about whoring itself out for money anyway, why not shoot the extra scene with Stew Stew puking up some blood and birthing a baby vampiress with a perma-scowl and an eating disorder, make an extra $10 million and call it a win? The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn hits theaters Nov. 18.

We are still months away from seeing any sort of teaser trailer for Bill Condon’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get your Twihard fix right here and now with this image of Edward and Bella doing the mattress dance in the fourth installment of the vampire-werewolf-human soap opera. I haven’t read the, ahem, novels – and you can be damn sure I never will – but from what I gather, there are some downright head-shaking, cuckoo moments in Stephanie Meyer’s incredibly popular novel. My guess is the image below takes place on Vampire Sex Island, where Ed and Bella honeymoon and wake-up to a feather-fiesta from all the rough vampire porking the night before. But don’t worry, there shouldn’t be anything to make you blush too hard, as Breaking Dawn is set for a PG-13 rating and the filmmakers don’t want to alienate their fanbase by getting too graphic. At any rate, enjoy the picture! (Part I) hits theaters this November and the second installment whisks into cineplexes almost a month before the end of the world (It’s true! Just ask George Lucas!),

About the only thing similar actress Chloe Moretz and The Hunger Games’ fictional Katniss Everdeen have in common is both have kicked a lot of ass and both have seen a boatload of blood. I’m referring, tounge-in-cheek, to Moretz’s performances as Hit Girl in last April’s Kick-Ass, as well as her role as the blood-thirsty, yet tender-hearted, vampire in Let Me In, opening this Friday. Those are the only similarities and if the rumors of Moretz being considered for the role of Katniss are true, that is a bad, bad, bad idea on two main fronts. First and foremost, Chloe Moretz looks absolutely nothing like Katniss Everdeen. Moretz has pale skin and is a dishwater blonde, whereas Collins describes Katniss as having long, black hair (usually in a braid of sorts), grayish eyes and olive-colored skin, traits that specifically mark residents of The Seam, the poorest of poor miners in District 12. Short of a huge makeover, which I suppose is possible, Moretz simply doesn’t fit the part. And that leads me to my last point. Casting Chloe Moretz as Katniss Everdeen would be overkill and utter saturation for a movie that needs fresh faces and fresh blood. The same can be said of rumors of Kristen Stewart or Dakota Fanning suiting up as the aforementioned Everdeen. No, The Hunger Games needs an original cast of newbies because it needs to distance itself from the glut of teen-centric/young adult cinema, particularly The Twilight Saga, and rely more on story to push its success.

Twilight fans have been a spoiled bunch. In less than two years they’ve enjoyed three movies – Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – hewed from their beloved Stephanie Meyer vampire/werewolf romance series of the same name. Star Wars fans had to wait six years for three movies and even Lord of The Rings groupies had to wait three years for their saga to be completed. Well, karma has come full circle, my friends. At last Twilight haters will have their revenge. Twihards were already grumpy about having to wait almost a year and a half between The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (released on June 30, 2010) and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part I (releasing November 11, 2011), but now they’ll have to wait another year for Breaking Dawn – Part II to hit theaters on November 16, 2012. Despite the wailing, weeping, gnawing and gnashing of teeth by Team Edward and Team Jacob, this is a smart move by Summit Entertainment. This allows them to extend the life of Twilight and milk the franchise for every last drop of cougar cash. As a side note, and I should point out I’ve never read the Twilight books, I’d like to go on record by saying Breaking Dawn sounds like a crock of shit. Reading the plot summary on Wikipedia has literally made me want to punch my own testicles. All the will-she-or-won’t-she questions are gone and with it the suspense and drama and whatever semblance of a story Meyer had concocted before this fourth book, and that’s being generous. Breaking Dawn seems like Meyer’s attempt at being Switzerland, especially with Jacob “imprinting” himself on Bella’s newborn vampire-human daughter. Oh, you couldn’t have Bella, well hope lil’ sis is good enough. And that’s not all – will someone please explain to me how a vampire, the walking dead, can get a human pregnant? I mean, I’ve heard of shooting blanks, but what is a vampire shooting? In the end, I see Breaking Dawn as a flimsy, limp capstone to a franchise that was already borderline ridiculous to being with. In the end, I see Meyer’s saga for what it really is: a soap opera, full of kooky creatures and make believe, written as justification for a life’s worth of regretful, logic-based choices. She calls it fiction, but I see a four-part journal entry.

By ANDY MORGAN Making fun of Twilight fans and bemoaning Stephanie Meyer’s novels and the subsequent movies is almost as easy as drumming up sarcastic jabs about Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton or Miley Cyrus. There’s no effort required. It’s easy. And it’s also out of control. It’s almost as popular to dump on the vampire-werewolf franchise as it is all the rage to scoop up Team Jacob or Team Edward paraphernalia at Hot Topic. Every time I see a teen with a mouthful of braces squeal her affection for the furry-browed Edward, or some 40 year-old lady, with the mileage of a bad marriage and five kids written on her countenance, gush at Jacob’s sculpted abs, I am simply befuddled beyond belief. How can such a ridiculous story cause such frenzy amongst its fanbase, most of whom are women? And then I think of Star Wars nerds. And Lord of the Rings geeks. And the worshipers of comic books. And I realize they are absolutely no different from the so-called Twihards. Wearing a Team Edward shirt is no different than wearing a shirt with Darth Vader, the Eye of Sauron, Batman, Harry Potter, or Optimus Prime. Fans are fans, and like it or not, Twilight is a phenomenon with a tremendous following. As such, it brings out the haters. And that’s fine, but the naysayers ought to think twice about skipping The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, because director David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night) finally assembles all the wayward pieces of the last two films and leaves the audience with a fast-paced, action-filled soap opera that has both feet planted firmly in the realm of entertainment and less in the land of eye-rolling cheese. Fans of the Twilight books and movies will undoubtedly know step-by-step what is happening from the first frame of the film to the minute the end credits start to scroll, but newbies to Meyer’s world of humans, vampires and lycans might be a little lost. Don’t fret, though. That’s why I’m here. Here’s what I know: When Eclipse begins, Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) are doing what they do best – staring longingly into each other’s eyes and whispering sweet nothings of becoming undead against the backdrop of a bountiful Forks, Washington mountain meadow. Of course, the peace and quiet is only superficial, beyond the pastel flowers and sunshine is a world full of tough choices and hard realities, especially for a young girl who is only a high school senior. Should she marry Edward, or does she acknowledge her hidden feelings for hunky werewolf, Jacob (Taylor Lautner)? Should she and Edward do the horizontal mambo? Should she become a vampire? Anyone who has ever been in love and worried about making the right choice can understand the trepidation Bella feels. And while this has seemed dorky, almost comical, in the first two films, Stewart is able to channel a little more believability into Bella in Eclipse and her angst feels more palpable...

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse got a brand new trailer today – unveiled on Oprah – and while there isn’t any “I’ll fight for you until your heart stops beating” lines of love from six-packed lycans, there are certainly enough WTF moments to cause the Twitarded folks to scratch their heads and drool, which means there is enough nerd candy for the Twihards to suck on until June 30. I count myself, luckily, as Twilight illiterate, so I honestly had no clue what I was watching in this minute-plus clip. However, maybe it’s the rough quality from our pals at TrailerSpy.com, but this trailer seems a step down from the Eclipse full-length preview that hit the web in March. Or maybe it’s all the talk of this “epic battle” in Eclipse and all I see is a bunch of pasty-skinned Banana Republic models having it out with some Pound Puppies. Let’s be frank, this looks like turd. So…Twilight fans…please, enlighten me – what do you see in this preview that makes you either (a) giddy or (b) disappointed? Do the images onscreen seem to fit the story told in the book?

I’m not a fan of The Twilight Saga, but this poster blows. I know, I know. I sound surprised. I’m not, but if I was a fan, I’d be disappointed. Plus, am I the only one who can’t figure out why Bella isn’t picking Jacob over Edward? I mean, just from the poster wouldn’t you go with the dependable hunk over the pasty-skinned, brooding vampire who is always running away? Seems clear to me, but then girls generally like the douchebags, so go figure. I suppose what they say is true: Nice guys do finish last. Enjoy the poster. Or not.

Faithful readers of AndyatTheMovies.com probably saw a post a few days ago that featured some new Levi lovin’ images from the upcoming (June 2010) release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. We have since been asked formally by Summit Entertainment’s legal counsel to take the images off the site. You can read the full text of the letter after the jump. I can’t imagine why Summit wouldn’t want a little free press, even if I am mocking the film to some extent. But more importantly, what are they trying to protect? Secrets from the movie? I doubt it, because those images are so bland and non-descript they could have been from any of the three Twilight movies. Seems to be they’re being heavy-handed and uptight, but that’s ok, because while I can’t share the images any more, I can share an artist’s interpretation of what was shown in the images. Click for the full-sized masterpiece. Enjoy. Dear Sir or Madam, We are writing to you on behalf of our client, Summit Entertainment LLC (“Summit”). Summit is the exclusive owner of all rights in and to the unreleased motion picture entitled “Eclipse,” including but not limited to all related copyrights (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Eclipse”). No one is authorized to reproduce, transmit, copy, or otherwise utilize Eclipse without the express written permission of Summit. Notwithstanding this, it has come to our attention that a user of your website http://www.andyatthemovies.com for which you are the service provider, is advertising, utilizing and/or engaging in the unauthorized distribution of Eclipse images. More specifically the URL where the Eclipse images are being offered and distributed is: http://www.andyatthemovies.com/2010/02/new-twilight-eclipse-photos-reveal-levi-lovin/ Summit has the good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by Summit, its agent or the law. Summit diligently enforces its rights in and to Eclipse in all forms of media. Our client rightfully takes its responsibility for the protection of Eclipse very seriously. In accordance with the DMCA, we request your immediate assistance in the removal of infringements of Eclipse from this website. We further declare under penalty of perjury that we are authorized to act on behalf of Summit and that the information in this letter is accurate. Nothing contained in this letter constitutes an express or implied waiver of any rights, remedies, or defenses of Summit, all of which are expressly reserved. Very truly yours, /s/ David K.
Didn’t get enough of Jacob’s six pack abs or Edward’s hairy Milk Dud vampire nipples back in November? Well don’t fret, friend! The Twilight Saga: New Moon is hitting store shelves on DVD and Blu-ray on March 20, 2010! That’ll be a nice bridge for the Twihards who are fidgeting and antsy, either during class or while folding laundry, at the long gulf between the bleak month of January and June 30, 2010, when The Twilight Saga: Eclipse hits cinemas. The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD and Blu-ray will feature audio commentary from director, Chris Weitz and editor Peter Lambert, as well as a six part documentary, rehearsal footage, three music videos and a leaked sex tape with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Okay, the last one was a lie, but wouldn’t that be cool? No, you’re right, I didn’t think so either.
