Movie Review: Bridesmaids (A-)

I should, by all accounts, have a secret celebrity crush on Jessica Biel or Brooklyn Decker – you know, a blonde or brunette knockout with a drool-worthy body and the kind of smoldering face that magnetizes you in some kind of lustful tractor beam. But guess what? I don’t. In fact, other than a slight infatuation with Olivia Wilde (but only in her Tron: Legacy get-up), my secret celebrity crush is Kristen Wiig. There. I said it and I don’t

Please, Bridesmaids, Don’t Let Me Down

MacGruber cut me deep last May. It cut me real deep. Maybe I was in a state of euphoria for the oncoming summer weather and movies, especially since I live in Utah, which, everyone knows is Indian for holy-googly-moogly-it-is-colder-than-hell, but regardless, a movie I thought was going to be pretty funny (mainly after the red band trailer) turned out to be nothing of the sort. In fact, I don’t think I really laughed. This is why I’m a little gunshy

Bridesmaids Trailer = The Hangover, but with Chicks!

This is the first time I’ve seen or heard anything about the upcoming (May 13, 2011) comedy, Bridesmaids, and odds are this movie will blow six ways from Sunday, but I’m holding out hope this flick will make me laugh as much as the trailer did. This looks like the chick version of The Hangover. I suppose it was only a matter of time before the soulless, unimaginative drones in Hollywood belched out a concept like Bridesmaids. Still, I cling

Trailer Tues…Wed…Thur…Friday! Paul Redband Trailer!

Have you ever wondered what E.T. would have been like had he come to Earth as a bug-eyed, three foot tall, pot-smoking, horny, foul-mouthed little alien? No? Me, neither, but fortunately for us Greg Mottola, the director of Superbad and Adventureland, and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the acting duo from Shawn of The Dead and Hot Fuzz, have wondered and the result is this (crosses fingers) seemingly hilarious tale of an alien on the lam with two British sci-fi/comic

Double Dose of MacGruber Movie Trailers! Red and Green!

How can you not want to see a movie that has a bloated Val Kilmer, the strangely attractive and hilarious Kristen Wiig, a gravely-voiced Powers Booth, and Ryan Phillippe – desperately  trying so hard to make himself relevant again in Tinseltown? Yes, behold the green and redband trailers for MacGruber, based off the popular Saturday Night Live comedy sketch. Will Forte, who plays MacGruber on SNL will also play him in the film version. This is due to hit theaters

Trailer Tuesday: How to Train Your Dragon

Dan will have a review of Disney’s A Christmas Carol later this week, so I don’t want to spoil his thoughts or give any details away, but I will say this: Despite all it’s lavishness, it’s missing one key element – heart. In fact, to better illustrate and to introduce my pick for Trailer Tuesday, I will say DreamWorks Animation’s forthcoming How to Train Your Dragon has more heart in two and half minutes than Robert Zemeckis’ A Christmas Carol
