Trailer Tuesday: Tron Legacy

At this point, nine months out, I’m not sure there’s anything we can say here about Tron Legacy that hasn’t already been said from what little we’ve seen. Andy’s not so hot on Tron Legacy. I think it looks exciting, slick and am chomping at the bit.

Tron‘s first theatrical trailer– the one debuted before Alice in Wonderland– has been released to the internet. Judging by the $114 million haul Alice made over the weekend, most of you have probably already seen its combination of adrenal kicking rhythm, crackling energy and uber-fine visuals, but that doesn’t make repeat viewings look any less sexy or thrilling. With Jeff Bridges’ recent stock  increase thanks to a Best Actor win, by the time December rolls around and Disney’s hyper-refined marketing machine’s had another nine months to play it up, Tron Legacy should be incredibly high profile.

Long term success will obviously boil down to whether director Joseph Kosinski has made a good movie, but I have yet to see anything that says he hasn’t.

In the mean time, enjoy… or enjoy more by viewing the Tron Legacy trailer in larger, sexier HD right here.

Twilight’s Volturi And the Red Eyes of Doom

August 28, 2009 News 3 Comments

Sheen- New MoonMan, the bullet-train production speed of these Twilight movies is nothing short of mind-boggling. Not long ago, Dakota Fanning and Michael Sheen were cast as members of the antagonistic and powerful Volturi, a vampire coven introduced in New Moon who hangs out in Italy and polices the world’s vampires with red-eyed authority. Now the two are in posters and a movie that’s coming out in 80 days. Summit means business and are assembly-lining these suckers while the Twilight passion is still hot. And, if our readers here at AATM are any indication… it’s piping.

Of course, if you’re a Twihard (you guys have seriously got to rethink your naming conventions) you know all this and just want to see the recently released character images for Alec (Cameron “My, you’ve grown” Bright), Aro (Michael Sheen) and Jane (Dakota Fanning). Because I like Michael Sheen so much, he gets the front page spot. If you’re looking for Dakota and the other kid (and MTV exclusive) dressed in faintly Victorian black while enjoying a little brown cloud, they’re after the jump… … Continue Reading

“Tron: Legacy” Adds Michael Sheen to Cast

July 30, 2009 Almost News 1 Comment

79876351244Michael Sheen has a face that everyone knows, but a name that most don’t. In fact, in a recent AATM.com poll, readers picked “Michael Sheen is the younger brother of Charlie Sheen and has been in prision since he was 17″ over “Michael Sheen is the talented actor seen in such films as ‘The Queen’ and ‘Frost/Nixon’.” However, if you wanted to really get crazy, Michael Sheen was in “Timeline” with Gerard Butler, who was in “Reign of Fire” with Matthew McConaughey, who was in “Fool’s Gold” with Kate Hudson, who was in “Me, You and Dupree” with Matt Dillon, who was in “Wild Things” with Denise Richards (which also starred Kevin Bacon), who once was married to Charlie Sheen, who wears Michael Jordan’s underpants.

But in all seriousness, Michael Sheen is a fantastic actor. His performances as Tony Blair in “The Queen” and David Frost in “Frost/Nixon” are his most notable, but in Gary Oldman fashion, his other performances in the “Underworld” trilogy and “The Music Within” have made him a hot commodity in Hollywood. Not only will Sheen be in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” as Aro, but he’s also locked in for “Tron: Legacy” due in 2011, we just don’t know who he’ll be playing yet.

One thing is certain, let’s hope he’s not playing THIS GUY.

Check out Michael Sheen’s resume at IMDB.com. Are you familliar with his acting? If so, what’s your take on the “Tron” casting.

Michael Sheen in “New Moon”

April 13, 2009 News 5 Comments

michael-sheenMichael Sheen, most recently seen as David Frost in Ron Howard’s Oscar nominated “Frost/Nixon,” has signed on to play the head of the Volturi coven of vampires in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” Sheen must be relieved to finally shed the werewolf mask (he played a lycan in all three “Underworld” films) for that of a vampire. Boy, I know I would be. Them werewolves are stink-a-rific.

Oh, and in case you’ve been in Outer Space for the last year, “New Moon” is the sequel to last November’s box office darling, “Twilight.” Robert “Soon To Be Typecast” Pattison returns for the sequel as Edward Shinyskin Furybrows, as does Kristen “I’m a Pothead” Stewart as Bella Swan.”

Movie Review: The Last Airbender (F)

By ANDY MORGAN There are very few movies I completely and utterly abhor. Generally, I can usually find something positive or likeable in a film, even if said cinema is receiving disgust and scorn en masse from most fall-in-line movie critics. I relish the truth that I don’t always see eye-to-eye with most critics and [...]

Movie Review: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (B)

By ANDY MORGAN Making fun of Twilight fans and bemoaning Stephanie Meyer’s novels and the subsequent movies is almost as easy as drumming up sarcastic jabs about Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton or Miley Cyrus. There’s no effort required. It’s easy. And it’s also out of control. It’s almost as popular to dump on the vampire-werewolf [...]

Movie Review: The Last Airbender (C-)

By DAN VINTON If there’s one thing The Last Airbender does well, it proves any mystique surrounding M. Night Shaymalan is gone. With this coffin-bound nail, all residual goodwill The Sixth Sense director retained from followup successes like Unbreakable, Signs and even the creepy but fatally flawed The Village has been throttled by his is [...]
