THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Has A New Trailer And I Just Wet My Pants with Excitement!

The Dark Knight Rises

What can I say, I’m a little behind in my trailer postings here at Andy at The Movies.com, so in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past three weeks, you’ve probably already seen the full-length, beefy, wet-your-pants-from-excitement feature trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, the (presumably) last movie in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight). Nevertheless, I post it below for your enjoyment and for your comments.

This full length trailer gives us just a little more daylight into the story of TDKR, but is laced with enough fog and question marks to keep viewers and fans poised for, hopefully, some  OMG moments in Nolan’s final act. The biggest question I have coming out of this preview is this: If Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a such a supposedly tiny role (playing John Blake a “Gotham City beat cop”), then why is he in the trailer so much? My guess? Nolan’s keeping a tight lid on some of the casting (others in question are Marion Cotillard and Juno Temple, both with supposed minor roles, but both no lightweights in the acting department) and Gordon-Levitt is either stepping in to fill the shoes of some future Batman franchise (the previews keep saying “The Legend Ends”), or he’s going to be some type of sidekick to Batman, i.e. Robin (but Nolan has been firm in his desire to not include the Boy Wonder in his telling of the Batman story). Either way, there are some secrets that wait us when the movie hits theaters on July 20.

And yes, my love for Prometheus has caused some of my hysteria for TDKR to mellow somewhat, and I’ll be honest, I’m a little scared this will be more like Return of The Jedi than The Empire Strikes Back, which is to say, a much-hyped, but less than stellar sequel to the very best of the three films. The Dark Knight is basically a perfect movie, so how can that be topped? Alas, in Nolan I trust. The guy is the human version of Pixar. Whatever he touches turns to gold.
