Trailer, Ahem, Tuesday – Transformers: The Dark of the Moon

Happy Thursday, AATM readers! I hope you enjoy this installment of, ah, Trailer Tuesday. I’ve been behind on posting goodies because it’s awards season and I’m up to my ears in screener DVDs sent from hopeful studios. The Utah Film Critics Association votes in a few weeks on the best of 2010, so I’ll make sure to share our chosen winners, as well as my ballot and who I picked. Hard to believe another year is almost in the rear view mirror.

Today’s preview is for Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third installment in Michael Bay’s Autobot v. Decepticon saga and the follow-up to 2009’s blockbuster, Revenge of the Fallen. I don’t know if my Christmas memories are flooding back and I’m remember the Optimus Prime Santa Claus brought me in 1984, or if I simply can’t remember how much I equally loved and loathed Revenge of the Fallen, but this teaser trailer for Dark of the Moon makes me a little nerded out.

So what do we know about the third movie, aside from what we see in the preview? We know it releases on July 1, 2011 and will hit theaters in the asstastic 3D. We know nearly everyone in the last two films is back, except for puffy-lipped Megan Fox, whom Bay loathes. She has been replaced by Victoria’s Secret hottie, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Other additions to the cast include Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy), John Malkovich (Red), Frances McDormand (Burn After Reading), Ken Jeong (The Hangover) and Alan Tudyk (Serenity). I don’t know about you, but those additions might allow me to make it through an endless barrage of Shia LaBeouf no-n0-n0-n0-n0-n0-nos.

Take a peek at the teaser after the jump and let me know what you make of The Dark of the Moon.
