Trailer…eh…Wednesday? Soul Surfer!

If there was ever a great example of a teaser trailer, this short preview for Soul Surfer fits the bill perfectly. Clocking in speechless at a little over a minute, about all we know is AnnaSophia Robb (Race to Witch Mountain) has grown up, Dennis Quaid (Pandorum) and Helen Hunt (Then She Found Me) are looking super old and country singer Carrie Underwood is smokin’ hot. But in all seriousness, I kind of like the brevity, tone and feel of the trailer, but that might be due in part to January in Utah sucking the sweat off a dead man’s balls. Just sayin’.

As the trailer mentions, Soul Surfer is the true story of surfer Bethany Hamilton, a young surfer who was attacked in 2003 (when she was 13) by a 14-foot tiger shark that left her with a severed left arm. Bethany survived the loss of 60 percent of her blood and countless surgeries and amazingly, a month later, returned to the ocean to continue her dream of becoming a professional surfer, something she accomplished in 2007. You can read more about Bethany at her website.

Soul Surfer hits theaters in April 2011 and is rated PG. Check out the trailer after the jump and let me know your thoughts. Me? I want to see this simply because Hamilton’s story proves you can do anything and have anything you want with a little hope, faith and a happy attitude.
