New Toy Story 3 Trailer Online

It’s Pixar, Woody, Buzz and the whole gang of toys back for a third installment and I know I should be excited, but I’m not. I understand Pixar and Disney don’t want to sell the farm story-wise on the first feature trailer, but this preview just doesn’t get me revved up to see Toy Story 3. In fact, it kind of irritates me the studio imagines the fumes from Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are potent enough for a

Couples Retreat Movie Review (C)

Let’s be frank right from the start: Couples Retreat is the kind of movie you can appreciate and enjoy when you’re sitting in the drive-thru at McDonald’s wondering what one dollar Redbox rental will go nicely with your Double Quarter Pounder, pound of fries and cattle trough-sized soda. It’s not a terrible show and has a few funny bits, but its best digested with no expectations, and also while inebriated with sugar and cholesterol. The tragedy of Couples Retreat is

Paranormal Activity Now Playing in Salt Lake City

Apparently the folks in Salt Lake City have DEMANDED that Paranormal Activity bring it’s chills and thrills to their town, because the movie, which Roger Ebert calls “an ingenious horror film…so well made it’s truly scary,” hits the Megaplex 12 at The Gateway and the Megaplex 17 at the Jordan Commons this weekend. My guess is Logan could see this movie in the next few weeks, as Paranormal Activity is becoming quite the cash cow via the buzz it’s generating

The Lovely Bones Gets a Poster

It’s no secret that Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones is one movie I’m looking forward to this December. Alice Sebold’s novel touched me and I consider it one of my favorite books. I had always hoped to see it brought to the big screen. I was absolutely thrilled when the multi-talented Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, King Kong) was announced as the director of The Lovely Bones. However, since then my enthusiasm, while present, has somewhat cooled. Why?

Give a Geek a Camera…

Apparently, it’s Star Wars day… or we’ve become The Movie Blog. Either way, I’m sorry. Nevertheless! There’s a fun project running on the content site Vimeo called Star Wars Uncut. It’s a fan-video compendium that takes the original Star Wars (I will not call it Episode IV: A New Hope– nyah!), chops its 121 minutes into 15-second segments. Fans then pick a segment, film it on their own and upload it. When it’s all said and done, you’ve got 121

Tauntaun Sleeping Bag Gets REAL

Waaay back in April, ThinkGeek April-Fooled many a Star Wars nerd with their Tauntaun sleeping bag. Seems everyone wanted to nestle their middle-aged spare tires and a box of cookies children into its fleece-lined innards. Reader Jason even went so far as to say “They had better produce and market this. It could single handedly stimulate our economy out of this recession.” Well Jason, consider your wish Thinkgeek’s command, because dudes scored a license from Lucasfilm and are ready to

Thank You, Esquire

As more and more grey hair makes permanent residence on my head, I find it difficult to really have any celebrity lust toward many Hollywood actresses. In fact, I’d be hard pressed to name five actresses that really float my boat. As of this writing, I know Anna Faris, Ginnifer Goodwin, Amy Adams and Sienna Miller (with a nod to Rachel Nichols – it’s a G.I. Joe thing, I’m afraid) would probably make my list. Probably. But really, does it

Hey, It’s Qui-Gon Jinn!

Last week I posted some images from Empire Magazine’s preview of Clash of the Titans, a remake of the 1980’s classic, which is due to hit theaters in March 2010. This week Entertainment Weekly posted some insider images of Liam Neeson dolled up in a hefty suit of armor for his role as the mighty Zeus, CEO of the Greek gods. I wonder how much Just For Men they had to use on the wig and beard Neeson used back

Adrien Brody Joining Predators is a Good Thing

Waaaaay back in April, Dan posted a story about Robert Rodriguez (Shorts) rebooting the beloved 80s action flick Predator, and since then we’ve come to find out the movie will be titled Predators, with Rodriguez producing the and Nimród Antal (Vacancy) taking the director’s wheel. We’ve also come to learn that Adrien Brody (King Kong) has signed on in the lead role as “heroic mercenary” (isn’t that like saying “awesome douchebag?”), joining the already-signed cast of Alice Braga (I Am
