Trailer Tuesday: Crazy Stupid Love

Movies like Crazy Stupid Love, due in theaters on July 29, 2011, make me nervous, especially when I take a liking for the trailer. 99 percent of the time they simply cannot replicate the two and a half minute euphoria they achieved in the trailer, but, as I with Warrior, I’m giving this movie the benefit of the doubt based solely on the cast. Steve Carell (Dinner for Schmucks), Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine), Julianne Moore (The Kids Are Alright), Emma

Superman: Man of Steel Adds General Zod to the Mix

Ever since Zack Snyder was announced as the director for the forthcoming Christopher Nolan-produced Superman re-boot, titled Superman: Man of Steel, I’ve been hearing rumblings about General Zod being the main foe for Supes in this big-screen outing. As you probably know, General Zod was last seen in Superman II, opposite Christopher Reeve and Margo Kidder. He was played in that 1980 sequel by Terrance Stamp (Wanted). Early rumblings had Viggo Mortenson (The Road) tabbed as the frontrunner for Zod,

Warrior Trailer Looks Like UFC Version of The Fighter

And that’s not a bad thing. At all. The Fighter was an Academy Award darling, nominated for six awards and winning in the best supporting actor and actress categories (Christian Bale and Melissa Leo). This movie, Warrior, has the same gritty, blue-collar feel, but instead of boxing we get plopped into the octagon, the brutal, blood and broken bones world of mixed martial arts (MMA), i.e. the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). And while we’ve seen that style of fighting in

The Hunger Games Movie Completes Its Love Triangle, Adds Peeta and Gale

Fans of The Hunger Games books can now start to salivate fully at the movie version hitting theaters on March 23, 2012. Not only has director Gary Ross chosen his Katniss (Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence), but he now has his Peeta and his Gale. Josh Hutcherson, most recently seen alongside Annette Bening and Julianne Moore in The Kids Are All Right, has been tapped to play Peeta Mellark, the baker’s son and male tribute from District 12. Rounding out the

New Trailer for The Hangover: Part II has me Pining for May 26!

You know what makes the first full-length trailer for The Hangover: Part II so funny? Two things: First, I don’t ever not laugh when Zach Galifianakis’ character, Alan, says, “When a monkey nibbles on a weenus, it’s funny in any language.” And second, the trailer, which you can watch after the jump, was recently pulled from theaters because of said quote and said scene referencing oral sex from a primate. That’s right, folks. Snuggle up and smell the debauchery at Andy

Amy Adams is Lois Lane in Superman: The Man of Steel

Okay, so I know this is reeeaaaaaaaalllllly old news, but I just have to post this as my way of acknowledging publicly to Zack Snyder and those involved with Superman: Man of Steel that I heartily approve of their casting choices thus far. In case you missed the news earlier this year, little-know Brit, Henry Cavill, is playing Clark Kent/Superman, and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane are Pa and Ma Kent, Supes’ adopted Earth parents. Now, as of last week, the part

PG-13 Version of The King’s Speech Opens Today

No, this isn’t an April Fools’ Day prank. It was announced last week by The Weinstein Company that a “family-friendly” version of The King’s Speech would be released into theaters today, April 1, 2011. Nobody is crying censorship, obviously, but many, including me are wondering why. Let’s be perfectly clear: The King’s Speech is an R rated movie because it uses the f-word 12 times. The rule is no more than two f-words in a PG-13 movie and not one

Trailer Tuesday: New Captain America Trailer Erases My Doubts

I’ve always been more of a Batman and Superman kind of guy, so I never had much interest in superheroes like Captain America, Wolverine, The Hulk and the whole X-Men gang, although I will admit a fond interest for Wonder Woman, especially the cleavtastic version embodied by Lynda Carter in the mid to late 1970s. Even though I enjoyed Iron Man and its sequel, as well as The Incredible Hulk, I’ve been recalcitrant to embrace the glut of superhero movies
