Batman: Dead End

After reading about the tragic suicide of actor Andrew Koenig, best known for his portrayal of “Boner” during the 1980s on television’s Growing Pains, I was surprised to learn he played the Joker in one of the best fan films I’ve ever seen, Batman: Dead End. Apparently this short movie premiered during the summer of 2003 at the San Diego Comic Con, but I wasn’t aware of it until Dan showed it to me last year. I’ve posted the movie

Trailer Tuesday: Middle Men Red Band Extended Trailer

Luke Wilson is long gone from his best acting performances in The Royal Tenenbaums and Old School, but the current AT&T Wireless spokesman, looking rather plump these days, definitely has the potential and skill to find his niche again in Hollywood. Perhaps Middle Men, a movie – and a true story I might add – about a family man who helped launch the first-ever web porn billing business, is the type of picture and role Wilson needs to remind everyone

Ian McShane to Play Blackbeard in Pirates 4?

I just finished reading Michael Crichton’s Pirate Latitudes, so despite Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End sucking three levels of Davy Jone’s squidbeard, I’m a little jazzed for a new pirates movie. Now the only question is will it be Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, due to hit theaters in May 2011, or the aforementioned Pirate Latitudes, coming to cinemas via Steven Spielberg and David Koepp, that I see first. I’m guessing it will be On Stranger

Kick-Ass Red Band Trailer is All Kinds of Bitchin’

Maybe I’m a filthy old man, but there’s something absolutely hilarious about a spunky 13 year-old girl (Chloe Moretz) spouting spicy dialogue that would make a sailor blush. The only problem is will the shock-value of Kick-Ass, coming to theaters on April 16, 2010, be the foundation for the film, or simply the cherry on top? My hope is the latter, especially considering what looks to be strong, quirky, memorable performances from Nicholas Cage and Mark Strong. If you haven’t

Movie Review: Shutter Island

There’s something mesmerizing about Martin Scorsese and the answer as to what finally dawned on me while watching him accept the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globes almost a month ago. No, it’s not his furry caterpillar eyebrows tucked behind his bold, thick-framed glasses, nor is it his infectiously happy speech and big-toothed grandpa grin. To be precise, it’s his absolute and lasting love of all things cinema, which was unmistakable as I listened to his gracious remarks

Twilight Eclipse Levi Lovin’ Photos Removed via Cease and Desist

Faithful readers of AndyatTheMovies.com probably saw a post a few days ago that featured some new Levi lovin’ images from the upcoming (June 2010) release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. We have since been asked formally by Summit Entertainment’s legal counsel to take the images off the site. You can read the full text of the letter after the jump. I can’t imagine why Summit wouldn’t want a little free press, even if I am mocking the film to some

Trailer Tuesday: Get Him to the Greek

The first trailer for the upcoming Jonah Hill (Funny People) and Russell Brand (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) comedy, Get Him to the Greek, premiered last week and on first watch it looks to be pretty damn funny. I will admit, there was no knee-slapping, gut-splitting moment for me in the preview, but considering the two stars and the folks behind the camera (it’s directed by Forgetting Sarah Marshall helmer, Nicholas Stoller), I can’t imagine this will suck. On the other hand,

New Hit Girl Poster Makes Me Giddy for Kick-Ass

Next to Clash of the Titans, there is no movie in the next two months I am more excited to see than Kick-Ass. In fact, I’d say there’s nothing in 2010 that has me more giddy than Perseus and Hit Girl. I just can’t fathom how Kick-Ass won’t be anything but a stellar success both critically and monetarily. Matthew Vaughn, the movie’s director, is the man behind the slick (but somewhat over-glorified) Layer Cake, and the under-appreciated Stardust. Below is
