Trailer Tuesday: The Hangover

I love movies. Period. But there is nothing I love more than filthy dude comedies. This little gem, “The Hangover,” is from director Todd Phillips and, in my opinion, Mr. Phillips needs of a hearty swathe of redemption since, no lie, everything he’s made since “Old School” has turned out to be utter crap. If you want to argue that point, I humbly suggest you re-watch “School for Scoundrels” and “Starsky & Hutch.”

MTV Clip of Shane Acker’s “9”

Ever since I saw Shane Acker’s short film “9” last year, I have been Spike Jonezing for the full length feature due in theaters on September 9th. For history’s sake, Acker’s computer animated short was nomiated for an Oscar in 2005 and if you haven’t seen the short film, watch it by following this link. If you haven’t seen the trailer for the movie, you can see it here. The film version is produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov

Revenge of the Fallen ShoWest Footage

My enthusiasm for “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” just multiplied in a massive way after watching this clip from ShoWest. But really, would – no, can I, expect anything less explosive and bombastic from Michael Bay? I dare say, no. Check out the footage below and circle June 24th on your calendars.

Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince Trailer

Out today is a new trailer for “Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince.” I must admit, I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter books, nor shall I ever, but I have enjoyed all the films for the most part. And this, the sixth Potter film, looks to be equally impressive, especially from the tasty snippets divulged in this new trailer. As a side note, as reported earlier, “The Half-Blood Prince” opens on July 15th and is rated PG. Check

Sofia Coppola Going Back to Her Roots

Academy Award-winning director, and veritable hottie, Sofia Coppola is reuniting with Focus Features, the company behind her highly decorated “Lost in Translation,” for her next feature entitled “Somewhere.” Coppola both was the writer/director for “Lost in Translation” and won an Oscar for best original screenplay. She will be writer/director for “Somewhere,” as well. According to the Focus Features press release, “Somewhere,” set in Los Angeles, “is the story of Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff), a bad-boy actor stumbling through a life

State of Play (****)

“State of Play” is an intelligent, seamlessly paced political thriller that will most likely be overlooked and even steamrolled this weekend by the Zac Efron Love Train. Who wants to watch a chubby Russell Crowe and a graying Ben Affleck attack D.C. corruption when Efron’s rippled abs can be had for the better part of two hours? Maybe you might, but I’ll take the former “Gladiator” star and his acting chops any day over Captain High School Musical. Love him

Lord of the Rings Trilogy on Blu-ray in 2009?

I love Blu-ray. I really do. So much I’d marry it if I could. I also love Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” movies, even more that Captain Flannel Von Chubneck’s “Star Wars” sextuplets. So what to my wondering eyes did I see on MovieWeb.com today? They reference a story taken from Digital Bits.com that states Amazon.com is taking pre-orders for “The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy” on Blu-ray, supposedly releasing this December. According to the source,
