Want to See Some Clips and Read Somebody Else’s Star Trek Interview? Read On.

Last Friday, on KVNUs movie show, we briefly discussed this weekend’s big opener Star Trek and it’s universally glowing reviews. Promising stuff. If you’re interested in learning a little more about the writing development behind Star Trek reboot, movie website extraordinaire Ain’t It Cool News has posted an interview where Mr. Beaks (aka- one-time fellow CHUD writer Jeremy Smith– a good guy and a gooder interviewer) talks to Star Trek screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Krutzman. They discuss the weight

A Poster For Your (10 Year Olds) Room

If you’re not up to speed on all your Transformers robots, that’s ok. Michael Bay has been real elusive in letting slip who’s in and who’s out for his upcoming Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen. There’s been leaks galore and a trailer to boot, but how can you really know? Well, you can get a better idea thanks to the GB eye LTC. poster company, who are selling Transformers for a bedroom wall near you. For your viewing pleasure, we’ve

Dwayne Johnson Gets His Own Submarine

So here’s the question. If Disneyland recently ripped out their 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride and replaced it with Finding Nemo, what happens if McG’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea remake is a hit? Ok, so no one cares and the question served no other point than to give me a lead-in to share news that Dwayne “The Rock is no longer cookin'”  Johnson is apparently on board the remake as the Captain Nemo. Dwayne Johnson, he of the

UPDATED: Bruckheimer Nabbed The Lone Ranger– The Lone Ranger’s Nabbed a Director

Update at end of story. Feels like Jerry Bruckheimer’s law-upholding, shiny bullet poppin’, Silver-riding Lone Ranger project has been simmering for a while (it has… it really has!). The last bit of major news was Johnny “Everyone loves him NOW” Depp’s attachment as Native-American BFF Tonto– of course, that makes me wonder where Wes Studi was when the casting call went out. Dear Wes… I miss you*. So talk about curiosity piqued when the latest humdinger about the project just

(No) Surprise! Wolverine Takes Weekend Box Office

As expected, X-Men Origins: Wolverine took down the pants of all May 1 contenders and paddled their bum-parts with its box office might. Wolverine opened up with pretty much what data showed it was tracking for, roughly $87 million. Not the 100+ million opening seen by its predecessor or even Spider-Man/Pirates of the Caribbean, but not underperforming either– in short, no surprises. From all feedback I’ve noted, the movie is a crowd-pleaser despite its critical loathing, so I won’t begin

The Riddick Sequel That Just Won’t Quit

Somewhere down the line, Chronicles of Riddick is going to appear in the Showcase of Shame. It’s assured. Destined, even. I’m a fan of the film not only for its ambition, but for the sheer world and universe creation unfolded in its (highly cut) two hours. I know there’s some rhetorical punching due my face for saying that, and while I’ll admit it’s certainly not perfect,  the more I see it, the more I appreciate it.

Remember Iron Man?

With summer coming at us with a serious barrage of highly anticipated odes to fiery destruction, firearms and the comedies that eschew either, it’s kind of tough to remember that about this time last year, Iron Man was surprising audiences and pocketing their money with giddy relish. The sequel to Iron Man is scheduled to arrive next year and director John Favreau and company have been hard at work in efforts to make it happen. To prove it, they’ve released

District 9 Trailer

A few weeks back we introduced you to District 9, a Peter Jackson produced tale based on the Neill “In your face!” Blomkamp short Alive in Joburg. The trailer for District 9 has just been released and I’ll belie my partisanship here and say it looks fantastic. While there’s going to be some comparisons made with 1988’s  Alien Nation, I get the feeling District 9 is going to be a little less crime mystery with aliens and more sociopolitical with
