The Road Trailer or Ode to Planet Beardatron

Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road” is one of the most moving books I’ve ever read, probably because I dread the inevitable end-of-the-world and all the unfathomable violence and horror that would follow such a doomsday event, and also because I am a father and protecting my family is what I am supposed to do and would do by and with any means necessary. But I’m not so sure about this trailer. Does it look to be a great movie? Sure, but

District 9… Again

So I’m really not trying to double post on upcoming films, but when there’s news, there’s news. And this is at least interesting… right? Right. So a week or so ago we posted the trailer for the Neill Blomkamp directed, Peter Jackson produced District 9. There’s now an updated trailer– the whole thing is is the same, but now you’re be able to see the alien (no privacy pixels) and read a subtitled translation. Apparently, this is part of a

Battle of the Smithsonian International Trailer

All my instincts tell me “Terminator Salvation” will utterly wallop “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” for Memorial Day box office bragging rights, but I’m beginning to have doubts.  It’s a family holiday with start-of-the-season BBQs and trips to the cemetery to pay our respects to those gone before us. Judging by the box office receipts for oh, I don’t know, the last 30 years, many families count a trip to the theater as a tradition. Considering, even

District 9 Trailer

A few weeks back we introduced you to District 9, a Peter Jackson produced tale based on the Neill “In your face!” Blomkamp short Alive in Joburg. The trailer for District 9 has just been released and I’ll belie my partisanship here and say it looks fantastic. While there’s going to be some comparisons made with 1988’s  Alien Nation, I get the feeling District 9 is going to be a little less crime mystery with aliens and more sociopolitical with

Full-Length Transformers Trailer Debuts

We usually designate Tuesday as a special trailer day, but the trailers have been loading up so fast in the last 24 hours that exceptions must be made! First off, for those of you awaiting Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, your moment of satiation has arrived in the form of a full length trailer stocked with stuff you know and sprinkled with stuff you don’t– particularly a Megatron resurrection and a sand-sucking Sand Sucker robot, which I’m sure has a

Meryl Streep + Amy Adams = Recipe for TLA

If you’ve been following Andy on Facebook, you’ll know there’s been a real Meryl Streep/Amy Adams love-fest brewing. And by brewing, I mean a rich, blended urban roast of red-haired crushing steeped in the legendary flavor of Streep. Which is so ironic, because no sooner than Doubt hits Blu Ray do we get the trailer for Julie & Julia starring… an unfortunately coiffed (but darling!) Amy Adams and charmingly primmed (and tall!) Meryl Streep… again! Julie & Julia Follows the

H2 Trailer Now Online (Wait – there was an H1?)

Rob Zombie directed a remake of the 1978 horror classic “Halloween” that was met with tepid box office results in 2007. Apparently the studio was so thrilled to see it’s money flushed down the toilet, they greenlit a sequel, called “H2” and it’s hitting theaters this August.  Click this link to get your first look at the somewhat-creepy trailer. I haven’t seen Zombie’s remake, but I have seen “The Devil’s Rejects,” so I’d expect gore, nudity and lots of bad

Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince Trailer

Out today is a new trailer for “Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince.” I must admit, I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter books, nor shall I ever, but I have enjoyed all the films for the most part. And this, the sixth Potter film, looks to be equally impressive, especially from the tasty snippets divulged in this new trailer. As a side note, as reported earlier, “The Half-Blood Prince” opens on July 15th and is rated PG. Check
