It pains me to give CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD a middling, disappointing C grade. I loved the book by Adam Cesare – same with both of the sequels he wrote – but the movie tried to cram a nuanced, topical novel into a 90-minute slasher speedrun and left all the best parts in the cornfield. Maybe it’s because I already knew the twists, or maybe it’s because the film forgot that hinging everything on just the appearance of scary clowns isn’t a win. Eli Craig killed it with TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL. This doesn’t even come close to that masterpiece.
I talked about it last week on the KVNU For the People Movie Show, and you can click here to listen to the podcast.
