While Andy’s convinced The Last Airbender will suck, I’m not so sure. Nothing I’ve seen so far has turned me off — opposite, even. Elements battling elements, dudes being thrown to oblivion, world creation and a kid’s skull lighting up like a Tron car. Despite its inherent kid focus (it’s based on a Nickelodeon cartoon after all)… I think it looks cool and will be, at worst, mildly entertaining. Earlier trailers have focused on the high-flying gee-whizery of the movie, …

No big surprise here, but it was announced yesterday that Paramount Pictures is moving forward with Mission Impossible IV, with Tom Cruise and J.J. Abrams set to produce. The fourth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise will hit theaters Memorial Day weekend in 2011 and will, of course, star Cruise. No word on whether or not Abrams will direct the movie, but Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are attached as screenwriters. I can’t see how moving forward with another Mission: …
I’ve never missed a Trailer Tuesday since Andy at The Movies.com went online in March of 2009, so here’s a belated preview for your viewing hell enjoyment. This is the Super Bowl spot for the new Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy, The Back-Up Plan. Personally, after watching this pile of turd, I think “romantic” and “comedy” aren’t even on the radar. More like “mind numbingly dumb” and “100 percent shit-tastic.” For those who care and probably went out and bought Monster-in-Law, …
We know this simple truth because horror movies tell us so. And because fourfour made this clip.
First impressions of director Kevin Smith’s new buddy comedy Cop Out (formerly known as A Couple of Dicks) have been tepid to say the least. The jokes are obvious, flat, lazy and worst of all, unfunny. Watching the green band trailer was actually boring. Taking part in that two minute experience is like watching the introduction of that horrible Budweiser Super Bowl commercial with the cow breaking through the fence. Cop Out looks like it’s trying, but its trailer hints …
Avatar’s seven week reign as the box office champ ended this weekend and it wasn’t John Travolta and From Paris with Love that kicked the Na’vi in the groin. No, it was Dear John, the movie starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried, which is based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name. Yes, the movie that’s currently boasting a 29 percent fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.com. Dear John took first place with an estimated $32.4 million and Avatar was …
Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints on winning Super Bowl XLIV in what may have been the most boring NFL championship since, well, the last time the Indianapolis Colts went to the Super Bowl in 2007. And while I love football as much as the next dude, I won’t lie – I anticipate the commercial breaks in the hope I’ll see some genius advertising or some phenomenal movie preview. This year’s commercials and trailers were ho-hum, except for the Google …
We sung the praises of Crazy Heart on tonight’s KVNU Movie Show, but if you’re still unsure on whether or not to give the film a shot, check out this behind-the-scenes featurette from Fox Searchlight. Happy Friday!
