Tauntaun Sleeping Bag Gets REAL

Waaay back in April, ThinkGeek April-Fooled many a Star Wars nerd with their Tauntaun sleeping bag. Seems everyone wanted to nestle their middle-aged spare tires and a box of cookies children into its fleece-lined innards. Reader Jason even went so far as to say “They had better produce and market this. It could single handedly stimulate our economy out of this recession.” Well Jason, consider your wish Thinkgeek’s command, because dudes scored a license from Lucasfilm and are ready to

Thank You, Esquire

As more and more grey hair makes permanent residence on my head, I find it difficult to really have any celebrity lust toward many Hollywood actresses. In fact, I’d be hard pressed to name five actresses that really float my boat. As of this writing, I know Anna Faris, Ginnifer Goodwin, Amy Adams and Sienna Miller (with a nod to Rachel Nichols – it’s a G.I. Joe thing, I’m afraid) would probably make my list. Probably. But really, does it

Hey, It’s Qui-Gon Jinn!

Last week I posted some images from Empire Magazine’s preview of Clash of the Titans, a remake of the 1980’s classic, which is due to hit theaters in March 2010. This week Entertainment Weekly posted some insider images of Liam Neeson dolled up in a hefty suit of armor for his role as the mighty Zeus, CEO of the Greek gods. I wonder how much Just For Men they had to use on the wig and beard Neeson used back

Adrien Brody Joining Predators is a Good Thing

Waaaaay back in April, Dan posted a story about Robert Rodriguez (Shorts) rebooting the beloved 80s action flick Predator, and since then we’ve come to find out the movie will be titled Predators, with Rodriguez producing the and Nimród Antal (Vacancy) taking the director’s wheel. We’ve also come to learn that Adrien Brody (King Kong) has signed on in the lead role as “heroic mercenary” (isn’t that like saying “awesome douchebag?”), joining the already-signed cast of Alice Braga (I Am

Trailer Tuesday (Dan’s Pick): Red Cliff

John Woo. JOHN WOO! Yeah. Used to be a time when the name John Woo meant something: Glorious action, slow motion symphonies of leaping, shooting and fiery explosion, doves (he’s a Christian, you know) and over-the-freakin’-top John Travolta. But that was then. Now, it’s 2009 and America’s love affair with John Woo–a brief fling that launched with Broken Arrow, culminated in Mission Impossible: II then quickly hit the skids with Windtalkers— is on the backburner. Woo’s done some producing and

Trailer Tuesday: The Crazies

The Crazies, a remake of George A. Romero’s (Night of The Living Dead) 1973  cult classic of the same name, hits theaters on February 26, 2010 and is directed by Breck Eisner, whose last film was 2005’s dreadful Sahara. Romero’s original pooped out at the box-office and something tells me Eisner’s version, starring Timothy Olyphant (A Perfect Getaway) and Radha Mitchell (Surrogates), won’t turn heads or produce cartwheels either. But that’s okay, because for now we can enjoy this succulent

Stars Shmars– AATM Switches Up Its Rating System

Here at A(AD!)ATM, we’ve been using the universally recognized “star” system for our film reviews. It’s a system that’s been around a while, it’s well used and it works… but for all its recognition, the star system isn’t all that nuanced. How does a silly, brainless crap fun-fest like G.I. Joe nail three stars, while a well-executed and surprisingly effective film like District 9 receives the same score? They’re both entertaining in their own right, but one feels destined as
