Movie Review: Red (B)

After seeing Red, the new action comedy based on the comic book series of the same name, I just have six words on the tip of my tongue: Helen Mirren is one hot grandma. I know people who are 65 years old, just like Mirren, who look like they’re already have one foot in their casket, whereas Mirren could don a bikini and turn heads at the beach. But let’s be honest, Helen Mirren isn’t just a pretty face and

Kane & Lynch Looks to Be Another Video Game Movie that Sucks

I love video games and would love to see a popular title make it to the big screen and receive rave reviews. Someday the translation from XBOX, PS3, Wii or PC to the silver screen will be good enough to cause Roger Ebert to recant his statement that “video games can never be art.” But I promise you right now this will not happen with the Kane & Lynch movie hitting theaters sometime in 2011. Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx

Trailer Tuesday: The Expendables

Listen, I loved and still adore 80s action movies. You name it and I was a fan. Predator, Commando, Cobra, Rambo: First Blood Part II and Die Hard are just a few that come to mind. Each of these is tied to a distinct age and theatrical memory for me as a youngster. So much nostalgia exists in that genre for me you’d think I’d be doing cartwheels at the prospect of a grandiose cinematic mingling of 80s, 90s and

Trailer Tuesday: Cop Out (Red Band)

First impressions of director Kevin Smith’s new buddy comedy Cop Out (formerly known as A Couple of Dicks) have been tepid to say the least. The jokes are obvious, flat, lazy and worst of all, unfunny. Watching the green band trailer was actually boring. Taking part in that two minute experience is like watching the introduction of that horrible Budweiser Super Bowl commercial with the cow breaking through the fence. Cop Out looks like it’s trying, but its trailer hints

Trailer Tuesday: Cop Out

There were times during this preview for Kevin Smith’s new film, Cop Out, that I laughed out loud, but mainly I kind of sighed and shrugged my shoulders and then crossed my fingers hoping this comedy will turn out better than it’s first trailer. Why? Because I like Bruce Willis and I enjoy Sean William Scott. Tracy Morgan, not so much. Cop Out, formally titled A Couple of Dicks, opens on February 26, 2010. Check out the trailer below and

Bruce Willis + Hair = Pure Crap

I don’t give a rat’s patootie if “Surrogates” is based on a graphic novel (all the rage nowadays), because any movie that has Bruce Willis with “hair” should be flushed down the marketing toilet pronto. This movie is and will be pure crap. Mark my words. I’m sorry, but I just can’t get over that cringe-inducing hairpiece on John McClaine. And who thought golden blonde would be a great choice? Man oh man oh man. Terrible.
